  3. MOMENTUM ANNOUNCES CONNECTIVITY SOLUTION FOR NEWTON DEVELOPERS

  5. Perth, Western Australia, July 1st 1994 - Momentum has announced the
  6. release of ScriptLink, a connectivity solution aimed at Newton
  7. developers. Heralding the integration of the Newton into the
  8. enterprise computing environment, ScriptLink builds upon the ease of
  9. use and powerful communications architecture of Apple Computer's
  10. Newton product family.

  12. ScriptLink offers Newton developers a flexible mechanism for
  13. controlling a server Macintosh using AppleScript, Apple's powerful
  14. scripting language for the Macintosh. Combining the flexibility of
  15. AppleScript with the mobile computing power of the Newton, ScriptLink
  16. enables developers to quickly build customised solutions using off
  17. the shelf software packages. ScriptLink is compatible with industry
  18. standard wired and wireless AppleTalk networks.

  20. ScriptLink is based on a powerful client server architecture, with
  21. the Macintosh based ScriptLink Server providing a secure, multi-user
  22. environment in which AppleScript commands are executed. The Newton
  23. based ScriptLink Client provides a high level interface for
  24. developers of Newton applications, removing the requirement to work
  25. directly with low level communications protocols. Using ScriptLink,
  26. developers can eliminate the need to create customised server
  27. software for each application, dramatically reducing overall
  28. development time.

  30. The ScriptLink Developer Kit offers developers an easy way to reduce
  31. the time and complexity involved in developing powerful Newton
  32. products. Extensive developer documentation and a range of sample
  33. applications complete with source code are included in the Developer
  34. Kit. With the examples provided, developers can quickly add the
  35. appropriate AppleScript routines and call ScriptLink from within
  36. their own Newton applications, providing a simple yet powerful way to
  37. add communications capability to any Newton software. Additional
  38. copies of the ScriptLink Server and Client software are available
  39. for use in end user sites where applications are deployed.

  42. market data capture and retrieval applications. Using the wide range
  43. of AppleScript-aware applications available for the Macintosh,
